Prior to opening my office, I represented the Alabama Department of Revenue for thirteen years as an assistant counsel.  My responsibilities in that position included representing the Department in legal matters in appellate and trial courts, and in administrative hearings; and advising the Department’s commissioner and division directors on numerous tax topics. 

During my time with the Department, my concentration was in the litigating of complex corporate tax cases, many of which involved millions of dollars, from the initiation of those cases through the appeal process.

In July 2006, I litigated the nation's first corporate income tax case involving an "add-back" statute - VFJ Ventures, Inc. v.
